Provincial minister for local government, law and parliamentary affairs Muhammad Basharat Raja said the provincial government has spent Rs 147 million on 598 projects to reform education sector in Rawalpindi district. He was addressing a review meeting of education facilities and developments in the area held here at DCO office on Monday. The meeting was attended by Advisor to Chief Minister Rahat Qudoosi, MPAs Rashid Hafiz and Imran Aslam, DCO and other high officials of the district and provincial government.

He said all possible measures would be taken to ensure implementation on reforms. "Educated Punjab is a dream of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi which would be materialised by using all-out efforts," he said.

He said under 598 development projects in education sector hundreds of schools in the district were provided furniture, drinking water facilities and laboratories, besides construction of boundary walls and latrines.

The minister said top most priority of the government is renovation of old and dangerous building in order to make them safe for the students.

He said schools which were damaged due to heavy snowfall in Murree and Kotli Sattian areas would be reconstructed at the earliest. The minister was briefed about the performance of the education department in the district.
